Having graduated from the University of Massachusetts
in 1996 with a B.F.A in the Secondary Art Education program for teachers, has provided me with a diversified multi-cultural curriculum into explorations of "people" and "theme"
, based on thematic imagery . The arts have played an
important part in their contributions to values and traditions of the many cultures which have heritages much different than our own and incorporated these differences by acknowledgements in viewing their version of documents and
their culture with the works of art of the differing societies
Art is a lifetime learning experience. My artwork has taken a pathway towards an
eclectic exploration into cultures which becomes the vehicle for individual and personal growth. The mythological veil cloaks ancient meaning of of their artistic imagery utilized within their culture. Using an
active and creative imagination to search for common themes is a process of learning, personal experience, and growth.
Any ethnic group has their own cultural patterns, heritage and value system. Cultures contain their art images within their own motifs. These motifs become cyclic, repeating themselves from one generation to the
next. Although the relationship changes from one motif to another over time, the motifs remain the same. This realization of varying cultural varies has become finalized in my biological nature to form artwork that is based on thematic
imagery.
My artwork is that vehicle for creating knowledge about the human as
an individual, as well as for the cultural group, in order to break this cycle of
ignorance about doing the same things in repeatable patterns. Knowledge often leads to greater problem solving techniques and understanding. Giving the viewer recurring themes will enhance, consciously or unconsciously, their
ability to view themselves as a human in a complex world of many cultures.
